The company started as a bakery and soon became famous for its delights. Within two years, Domingo after winding up the business, went to California and opened a new shop there. The man was unstoppable at that time. He moved on to open one new store in San Francisco. The company today is famous for its gourmet and dark chocolates and was one of the first to introduce square chocolates.

Just like Ghirardelli, Lindt also started as a confectionery shop. After retirement, Rudolf, the owner, gave his chocolate factory to his son Johann Rudolf, who converted this company into Chocolat Sprüngli AG. The company kept acquiring other chocolate companies and in 1899, Chocolat Sprüngli AG took over Lindt’s chocolate company and hence the name. Today, the company still runs at its peak and enjoys consumer’s attention to its fullest.
